Sarah Palin's Alaska, a corporate show of power

An open letter to The Discovery Channel:

If it's your plan to show the bloody carcasses of dead wolves, and Sarah Palin extolling the virtues of paying money to bounty hunters in exchange for the severed legs of wolves, then fine, you'll be showing Sarah Palin's Alaska.

If it's your intention to endorse Sarah Palin's candidacy for president, and embrace the bigotry and hatred of her political bedmates of the Tea Party, then go right ahead -- but let viewers know, with a disclaimer at the start of every episode, because simple-minded folks won't understand that The Discovery Channel has become a mouthpiece for the Far Right, and espouses their twisted values.

["Sarah Palin's Alaska" is the latest manifestation of how emboldened the corporatists have become, though it pales beside pictures of Wall Street hogs wallowing in wretched excess, or Supreme Court puppets dancing on their strings, granting corporations the rights and privileges We the People always assumed were ours. Fascism is so firmly entrenched in this country that those who hold power feel free to wield it any way they damn well please. Their brownshirts are everywhere, stirring up mobs, preying on fear, stupidity, and ignorance. Once Republicans recapture Congress and the White House, and rid America of what the Italian corporatist Mussolini labeled "the putrid corpse of liberty,” we’ll no longer be citizens, but faceless, nameless consumers. Our only hope is that the GOP’s strategy of obstructionism backfires, and that enough voters cast their ballots for Democrats to overcome Republican voter fraud. Meanwhile, tell The Discovery Channel where to stuff “Sarah Palin’s America.”]
